Man With Migraines More Prone To Have Depression

You with headache, specifically migraines, are in a greater number predisposed to suffer from depression, feel weary, and have a host of other bad physical symptoms, according to a medical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical study involved 1600 woman who buy seroquel online at headache clinics in six US regions. Of the woman tested, 593 reported episodic headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 656 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patient were tested with migraines.

The medical research found man with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with occasional headache to report symptoms of major Atypical Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among patient tested with severely disabling migraine, the study found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms should incite or be a manifestation of major Major Depression in patient with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Atypical Depression will heighten pain perception,” said medical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Psychotic Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”

Tietjen says clinical trial are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Major Depression would be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Careless of what’s causing the dependence between migraine and Psychotic Depression, psychiatric disease such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can stir up poorer consequences for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The study was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American woman suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to amending women care through education and study. A neurologist is a osteopath specialized on monitoring, treating and managing diseases of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and repeated sclerosis.
